1)     In my opinion, i believe that being passionate about your job will make your life much more enjoyable. Therefor i think it is important to like your occupation. Your work takes up more time in your life then everything else. If you don't enjoy your job, it will directly effect your attitude towards everything in your life. I know an adult who loves his job as a motorcycle mechanic, he is happy and comes home from work happy and you can tell that it makes it easier on his family. On the other hand, i know someone who hates his job in a bank and he comes home grumpy, taking his mood out on his family. If your passionate about your job that will positively affect your life.

 

2)      First off, i am going to take a year off before going to university. During that year i hope to travel and work in far off lands. After the year, i have three options. The first is to go to university and get a degree in a field of interest and then pursue a career in the chose field.This is appealing to me because there is so many different opportunities after post-secondary education. The second option is to work in construction as a heavy equipment operator or as a carpenter. This is a interesting option because i could go up north with the heavy equipment operator experience or i could become a fireman after finishing my carpenter apprenticeship. The third option is to become a motorcycle mechanic. I would love this job because i love motorcycles and being around them while working on them.

"Then we heard the throttle open full and watched the car slam through the sweeping turn 8 as if it were a rocket sled, as if it were on rails, its hot racing-compound tires grabbing the greasy pavement like Velcro, and then-pock!-shifting up and-pock!- blasting past us..." (Stein 273)

 

 

            I connect to this quote because it reminds me of racing dirt bikes and going full-out. When your in the zone and your shifting is perfect and your on the edge, that's exactly how Denny was driving and that's what i love about racing. It is all about achieving the zone to go "way past the edge" (Stein 274). The "pock" (Stein 273) of the shifter makes me excited to go fast and makes me want to experience the adrenaline coursing through my veins. The view that you have on the world when racing at high intensities is very narrowed, all you think about is the next possible time you can have "the throttle open full" and nothing else matters. To go as fast as Denny did would no doubt be a whole diffrent experience and nothing short of extraodinary.

 

 

            This connection helps me understand the book better by feeling Deeny's love for racing. Also, how becasue he wants to race and instruct, he has the persiveriance to win his inocence so he can have the ability to go to italy with his daughter. Because of the thrill and how he thought that "it was incredible" (Stein 275) you know thats what he loves and he will do anything to be able to have that. It was the same determination for how he fought to have custody of Zoe, the never ending battle that Denny has the courage to overcome.

Public Displays of Disaffection

1.       Cell phones and social media sites are taking too much attention from people says Anne Kingston. There are three main points in the article "Public Displays of Disaffection" by Kingston. The first is that the use of cell phones while talking to others is "within the boundary's of etiquette in a social-media age" for the younger generations. The next main point is that for more old fashioned generations, most would rather "see someone pick their nose then use a mobile device in front of them", that's how much the right-wing thinkers dislike the rudeness of technology; much to the opposition of the younger crowd. The last main point from Kingston is that we are "losing our one-on-one people skills and ability to engage in uninterrupted, focused conversation" which is not good no matter what the age.
 
2. I agree that cell phones are getting more accepted to be used everywhere, but i think we need to know when to put them away for things that need undivided attention. Like school and work.Also i think that one on one conversation is key so it would be disastrous if we lost that skill.
3. I believe that cell phones are acceptable at home, on breaks, if you are alone, or in the event of an emergency. They are unacceptable during class time, while working, and while talking with others. I don't think it is appropriate for theatres, schools, and other public places to jam the use of phones because they sometimes need to be used in emergencies and for business purposes.

 
 

Your so Cliche

    This one day, my mouth dropped to the floor in amazement because my mom was so mad. She said things are not as easy as they seem and that really knocked some sense into me.  Soon all hell broke loose as i was thrown out in the real world. I was no longer a happy camper because life turned out to be a real pain in the neck. As fate would have it, life sent chills up my spine. But don't get me wrong, it wasn't your average spine tingling kind of situation. It downright took by breath away.

If i could have one super power in the whole world it would have to be the ability to stop time without anyone else in the whole world knowing that i was doing so. I would chose this because then you could have all the time in the world to do everything you need to, if you needed more time to think then you have it. You would never be late for anything because you have as much time as needed. You could make anything that you love last longer then it would in normal time. You might think that the ability to fly would be cool, but then everyone would know that you have that power and you would be a potential target to many people. Invisibility would be neat, but if you have the ability to stop time and do anything all while not being seen, that would be far better then to be in normal time while being invisible. The ability to stop time would be advantageous for many reasons and those reasons make it the most likable superpower.

My Dilema

My Dilema

         At the age of 14, i was just old enough to be riding my dirtbike far distances without the supervision of my dad. Or so i thought! Me and my step brother were out riding on a far off trail when i had a crash and broke my brake lever. With no tools, i thought it couldnt have possibly gotten any worse. Then at that point, we decided that we should turn around and head home. After riding for a bit, i relized that i had goten a flat tire! Thats when my dilema arose, i was to either keep riding home and risk doing damage to the bike. Or i could have left the bike in the woods and walk home down the trecherous and rocky trail. I weighted the pros and cons, and in the end i rode on home. Risky, and if it were to happen again, i probly wouldnt do the same again. But its the decision that i made and alas no damage was done to the bike. That was quite the dilema for me, and something i hope never happens again!
